Children’s Charter

Parent’s Guidelines

The Len Tyler Music School is an accredited "Colourstrings" music kindergarten with
trained and qualified staff. We go to great lengths to ensure that the teaching is
of the highest quality (and good fun). We ask parents to use the following guide-
1. As the school runs a reserved place system once your child joins they will have a place until you tell us otherwise. If your child is going to stop coming permanently please let us know in good time so that we can offer the place to another child.
2. We avoid refunds for temporary absence (Holidays etc.). The loss of revenue would soon lead to increased fees for everyone.
3. If more than two classes are missed within any half-
4. If your child is due to miss classes (Holidays etc.) it would be helpful for us to know beforehand.
5. Parents are asked to pay for classes promptly on or before the first session of the half term. Cheques should have the child`s name and class clearly marked on the back. If you are unable to attend the first session then please send a cheque to the office. The address is inside the front cover of the "Singing Rascals" books.
With your continued help and support we can spend less effort on administration and more effort on providing good quality music classes for your children.
At the Len Tyler Music School we go to great lengths to ensure that each child is able to develop to his or her full musical potential. To this end Parents and Teachers alike are asked to uphold the following children's rights as laid out in this charter.
1. The right to interesting lessons of good quality that are also good fun. Every lesson should be structured, well prepared and should start on time.
2. The right to arrive on time or up to 5 minutes before the start of the lesson. Late comers are a distraction and having to sit and wait for a lesson to begin is boring and uses up valuable attention span.
3. The right to arrive for lessons in a relaxed and happy frame of mind (where possible). Also teachers should always be happy, relaxed and friendly (but firm if necessary). This will help to create the right atmosphere for the lesson.
4. The right to be collected on time. Being left even if only for a few minutes can give the feeling of being deserted which can be quite devastating for a small child.
5. Adults (Parents and Teachers) should show genuine interest in what children do or say and should find the time to listen to them.
With a positive approach to this "Children's Charter" from all adults we will be able to maintain or improve the high quality of the lessons provided.
